So much going on here. This is my newish rando bike. I only know it in pictures. It’s truly a bike manifestation of great friends and bike nerdery. Original frame (the front half) was one of the bikes used for @bikequarterly planing test a decade (?) ago. That frame used thin wall (747) standard tubing. It was built by Jeff Lyon. I built that up as my “road” bike, which just means I only did mellow single track. Of course I ended up cracking the seat tube at the bottom bracket. The frame has been in glen @elephantbikes pile for about 3 years. The rear primered half of the frame is what glen did to fix it. Replaced seat tube and seat stays. Lots of detail that’s not visible here I’m sure, tbd later. Fork is from good buddy @_dcarney_ who is a social media ghost now. It’s big rake. Canti posts. Glen put canti posts on the rear half. I’m psyched to have canti brake bike again. This is running the perfect cx70 (thanks to @fancy_fred for setting me straight on those). Takes 650b. Naturally. Front dyno wheel is from @rory853. Rear rim is from @alex.wetmore, as is the dope front rack. I’m pretty sure alex built that rack for me about 13 years ago. I know somewhere there a pic with a very young @wildflowerfiend sitting on it as I wheeled the bike through a hotel hallway in seattle. Keen eyes will recognize the ritchy ultra compact crank (94/58) that runs perfect 44/30 before it was cool. That’s another @alex.wetmore gem. Is that a shimao 600 rear derailleur? A cx70 front? We shall see. Yep: down tube shifters that will out live and out shift us all. A legit old guy bike. Fenders are forthcoming. As are more pics.
