The point where these trails join—right in the middle of the two trees—until yesterday, was the home of a third tree. The tree created a little squeeze in the trail: an interesting feature that required just a smidge of skill to thread at speed on a mountain bike. You can see handlebar-height scabs on the remaining right tree where cyclists discovered how satisfyingly slim tolerances can be on non-obviously technical trail features. Alas, it is gone. Chopped down. What remains is a lesser bit of trail. #geezer #stoppaving #highdrivetrails
