Buddy Bill: not all heroes wear capes! On our spin up Mt Spokane this morning Bill spied a column of smoke a few hundred feet down the side of the mountain. Turns out it was a smouldering lightening strike. Pics here don’t show the red cauldron of coals at the base of the tree— I filled it up with dirt before taking good pics. We called 911. We waited. Fire folks came. We finished the climb. Without Bill’s eagle eyes and cat-like reflexes, all of Mt Spokane would’ve burnt down. Verily.
